To preserve and enhance the cow and cattle as a suitable subject for artistic representation.
Horses have captured the artistic limelight for centuries and while fantastic and noble creatures, they have overshadowed another noble and oft-neglected artistic subject, namely, the cow. Artistic movements and art societies have been based on the rendering and recognition of the horse, numerous books have been written extolling the virtues of the horse and treatises have been created to teach the budding equestrian artist the finer points of equine anatomy while the cow, and cattle in general, have languished in relative artistic obscurity. Remember that the West was founded in large part as a result of cattle, the men and women who worked with them weren’t called horseboys but rather, cowboys. For way too long have cows languished in relative obscurity as suitable artistic subject matter in their own right.
