"I’m constantly overwhelmed by the simple beauty and uniqueness of everyday life. I work to capture a moment or a feeling, or to present an ordinary subject in a new way. I want to hold the viewer a momentlonger with a sense of wonder, or perhaps a bit of humor. Life is short and fast. I want to slow down and see it.” Rita Kirkman was an artist from her earliest memory. Primarily a portrait artist, she spent 12 years in the amusement park industry sketching quick portraits of the guests. Currently she spends her weekends doing caricatures at local festivals in the south Texas area, while with her fine art expression, she bounces from subject to subject, having an endless cuiosity for all living things; especially of the animal kingdom. Her latest love is cows. "I can't tell a Hereford from a Jersey (I'm learning!), but I love how they look at me over the fence when I stop along a lonely country road to take some photos. They're such curious creatures, with such expression on their faces, I can't resist!"
