Bud Gordinier

After completing the fine and commercial art courses at the former Meinzinger School of Art in Detroit, Bud later earned his BFA in painting at Eastern Mich.University. He persued a successful career in commercial illustration which limited time to develop his painting skills. After several western workshops, commercial art faded while oil painting intensified. His love of painting cattle began during his many years in Virginia and, since moving to Texas, now paints longhorns and the light and shadow of the Texas landscape. Nature, he maintains, is a state of “orderly chaos” in which the artist must attempt to place its arbitrary elements into a focused arrangement. Watching cattle and other animals, he says, is a Zen experience, teaching us to just be. He and his wife, Pat, live and work in Hunt, Texas.

Bud’s work appears nationally in many private and corporate collections. He has shown in many successful one-man, and juried group shows primarily in Virgina. He is a former member of The American Society of Classical Realists, The Richmond (VA) Artists Association, Knickerbocker Artists, and is presently a member of the Kerrville Arts and Cultural Center..
