Artist, Barbara Fowler, is a true Texas artist. Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, Barbara spent most of her adult life living in diverse areas of the country: Louisiana, Virginia, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and Florida back to Texas. She began painting in those areas, but her heart and minds eye always returned to the simplicity and beauty of Texas landscapes.. After returning to Texas and moving into the Hill Country, Barbara began to see the Hill Country and San Antonio region with new eyes. She rediscovered the Texas missions, the Spanish and Hispanic influence on architecture, and the San Antonio River Walk. From her home in the Hill Country, she watched the deer gather in her yard, birth their young, and move thought their seasonal changes. She saw the lively color and texture of the Texas native plants and trees. She floated down the Guadalupe River and hiked in Lost Maples, along the Pedernales, and the many creek beds and springs in her area. And she began to paint in earnest. Inspired by Texas and Southwestern art in general, Barbara is now fulfilling her dream of living in and painting the Texas landscapes she has forever held in her heart. Barbara is also a member of the Canyon Lake Art Guild. email:fowler1@gvtc.com |
